طائر السلوث طائر يعيش في قمم الجبال
وهو يزن مابين 35545الى 3444 كيلو
تبيض الانثى 5 بيضات
يملك على جناحية جلد مثل جلد الماعز

يوجد في القطب الشمالى

حيوان السلوث sloth






- من حيوانات العصور الجليدية .

- شكله مثل جرذ الهامستر "بالعامية الوبر   :

- يتغذى على الاوراق وفروع الاشجار خاصة الاشجار المنخفضه .

- اكبر انواعه الميجاثريوم  Megatherium الذي يصل الى حجم الفيل .


-  اختفى مثل المخلوقات العملاقة الأخرى التي إختفت في نهاية فترة بليستوسين (قبل 10,000 سنة تقريبا).

- بقي من انواعه حيوان  الكسلان .






- ليس طائرا بل هو حيوان ثديي "حسب معلوماتي المحدودة "

- من الحيوانات المهددة بالانقراض .

- كسول وخامل   وبطيء يقطع 13 قدم في الساعة الواحدة .

- لها القدرة على النوم مقلوبه "راسها الى اسفل غريبه مايخاف يستغرق في النوم ويطيح !!! سبحان الله  "
 
- تستحم مرة واحدة في الاسبوع "نظيفة " وتستغرق ساعة كاملة للوصول للارض .


- تعيش 12 سنه في الغابات واطول في حالة كونها مأسورة .

- تجد صعوبة في المشي على الارض نظرا لشكل القدم والاصابع .

- يوجد على فرائها براغيث والطحالب الخضراء المزرقه لتساعدها على تمويه نفسها ضد الاعداء .

- تلد  في كل مره طفل واحد يزن 10- 14 اونصه وتقوم الام فقط بالاهتمام ورعاية الطفل .

-طول الذيل 1-3 بوصة .

- لها القدرة على السباحة .

- تموت مشنوقه بفعل الاغصان او متعلقه اذا لم تلتهم بواسطة اعدائها الطبيعين '> .

SlothHabitat:
 Canopy layer of Amazon Rainforest. Central America, Honduras, Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil.
 
Diet:
 Fruits, leaves, buds. The three-toed sloth loves the leaves of the Cecropia tree.
 
Enemies:
 Cats (jaguar,ocelot), snakes (anaconda), and Harpy Eagles.
 
Facts:
 There are five species of sloths. Hoffman's two-toed sloth, Linne's two-toed sloth, Brown-throated three-toed sloth, Pale-throated three-toed sloth, and the Maned Sloth (three-toed).

The Maned sloth is an endangered species. All sloths face the threat of loss of habit.

All sloths have three toes. One genus of sloths has three fingers and the other genus has two fingers. The ones with three fingers are called three-toed sloths and the ones with two fingers are called two-toed sloths (that's just the way it is).

Sloths have an image of laziness and inactivity.

They can fall asleep upside down.

The sloth goes to the bathroom about once a week and he climbs to the ground to do so. It takes them about an hour to get to the ground.

They can live about 12 years in the wild, and much longer in captivity.

It's hard for the sloth to walk on the ground because of the shape of their toes and fingers.

The sloth is one of the slowest animals. It travels about 13 feet in one hour.

They have moths and nettles in their coat. Blue and green algae also grow on its coat. The algae helps camouflage the sloth in the trees.

Sloths have one young. Their babies are the size of a thumb and weigh 10-14 ounces. The mother alone brings up the baby.

A sloths tail is only 1-3 inches in length.

Their main form of protection is camouflage.

The sloth always fights its predators.

They are pretty good swimmers.

We have found sloth fossils dating back to the Pleistocene era.

Sometimes after they die, they still are found hanging in a tree or clinging to a tree branch.

They are mostly nocturnal and solitary.

HOFFMAN'S SLOTH
Scientific name: Choloepus hoffmani

Range: from Nicaragua to Peru and Central Brazil

Habitat: tropical forests

Diet: leaves, fruit, and tender twigs

One of the several species and subspecies of the family Choloepus, or two-toed sloths, the Hoffman's sloth is a bizarre mammal that, like all sloths spends nearly all its life hanging upside down from branches in the rain forest canopy. It eats, sleeps, mates, gives birth, and even defecates in this position.

Sloths' bodies show some remarkable adaptations for this upside down lifestyle. All sloths have 3 toes on their feet, but two-toed sloths have only two claws on their hands. Their claws are long, sharp, and curved like meat hooks. Their main use is to enable the animals to hang for almost all their lives, but they are also formidable weapons for defense. Sloths have lost all other functions of their hands and feet. Their fingers and toes are grown together into one fold of skin. Their back muscles are very weak when compared to other mammals while they have very strong shoulder, neck, hip, and arm and leg muscles. Although they are capable of standing on their feet for a short time, they cannot walk erect. Their neck muscles allow their heads to turn through 270 degrees, so that the head can be held almost the right way up while the rest of the body is upside down. These amazing animals have hair that grows in the opposite direction of almost all other mammals. Grayish-brown in color, it grows from belly to back, so rainwater can run off it while the animal is upside down. The individual hairs of the sloth's fur are grooved. Due to the frequent rains (sometimes several times a day), tiny single-celled algae grow in these grooves, which make the sloth's fur look green. When hanging from a limb and remaining still, which they do a lot, the sloth looks like a clump a grayish-green moss. This makes it almost invisible in its treetop habitat...a great protection from its predators...and a great way to catch a quiet nap without any of its neighbors disturbing it.

Nocturnal and almost exclusively arboreal, sloths generally move very slowly, hand over hand along the undersides of branches. They occasionally come to the ground to reach other trees when they cannot travel overhead by branches and vines. They cannot walk on the ground. They sprawl on their bellies and drag themselves forward with their claws. However, they are excellent swimmers.

After mating in their upside down positions, the male departs and leaves the female to bring up the baby alone. Gestation is at least 263 days. A single young is produced. The baby immediately hooks its claws into the hairs on its mother's breast where it stays until it is able to care for itself.

Physical Description: The Sloth bear is also called the Indian bear. The bear has a cost of shaggy fur, the fur is long by the neck and shoulder area which causes it to look like the bear has a mane. The Sloth Bears fur ranges in color from reddish brown to black. They have a white "V" marking under their necks and very long claws that look like hooks. The Sloth Bear's nose is white and the head is huge. The male Sloth Bear stands 6 foot tall and weighs up to 300 pounds. The female Sloth Bear is slightly smaller than the male.


Habitat & Range: The Sloth Bear is found in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan. This bear likes to live in the low country by forests and in low rocky places.

Behavior: The Sloth Bear often lives by itself unless it is a mother with cubs. The Sloth Bear uses sounds and facial expressions to communicate with others. They have been known to attack people when scared or startled. They have very poor eye sight and their sense of smell is not that keen either. Sloth Bear cubs will ride on their mother's back, the Sloth Bear is the only bear to do this. The Sloth Bears are very good climbers. The Sloth Bear is generally nocturnal, but can be seen during the day eating or drinking. Sloth Bears are usually seen at dusk or right after dawn.

Diet: The Sloth Bears diet consists mainly of termites and ants. Their tongue is narrow and long and their mouth actually sucks the insects up. The sloth Bear will dig with their huge claws for bugs in the ground. They also eat crops when food is scarce, which upsets farmers. The Sloth Bear also eats fruits, honey, grass, eggs, potatoes and meat.

Reproduction & Breeding: The breeding season for the Sloth Bear occurs in June and July.The gestation period is between 205 - 215 days, the cubs are born in December or January. The female Sloth Bear generally has 2 cubs. The babies are very small and blind at birth. They stay with the mother until they are 3 years old and then move on to live on their own.

Predators: The Sloth Bear is hunted by leopards, tigers, wolves, and humans.

Status: Endangered Species


Interesting Info: The Sloth Bear is hunted by humans because their gallbladders are used for medicine in Asia.

اخي الفاضل :صديق الطبيعة
بجد انا اول مره ادري ان الكسلان اسمه السلوث بالانجليزي '> ولذلك قعدت ابحث في الانترنت وبالتالي  عرفت انه حيوان الكسلان  '> و اختصرت المعلومات هذي ....

وهذه هي فائدة تبادل المعلومات مع الاخرين "يعني المعلومات هذي مو  كلها من عندي '> "

نعم / هو يعيش متعلقا على الاشجار كما توضح الصورة وما ينزل الا للضرورة حتى انه يموت على الشجر ....واذا رغب في الاستحمام ينزل من الشجره الى الارض والعملية هذي تستغرق ساعة كاملة ....

اما بالنسبه للعلم ..... ما انا الا محبة فقط له وما اوتيت شيئا من العلم ........
